3 Ingredient Homemade Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 2 lb apples, peeled, cored, & diced

  • ½ cup water

  • ¼ cup sugar*

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon, optional

*More or less sugar may be required depending on the variety of apples. Add sugar to taste. 

- Apples with a thinner skin like Fuji or Gala don't have to be peeled.

Total Time: 30 min.

Cooking Steps

Prep Ingredients 

Core, peel, and dice 2 lbs of apples.

In a saucepan, combine apples, ½ cup water, ¼ cup sugar, (and ½ tsp cinnamon). Bring to a boil.

Simmer Applesauce

Cover and reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 to 20 min., or until the apples are soft and tender. Remove lid and simmer for an additional 5 min. to thicken. 

Mash or Blend Applesauce

Allow to cool, then mash with a fork for a chunky consistency, or blend with an immersion blender or stand blender for a smooth consistency.
