Easy Baked Falafel
#vegetarian #vegan #family-friendly
Total Time: 15 min.
Yield: 8
Ingredients
1-15 oz. can chickpeas
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 cloves garlic
1 medium onion
2 tsp cumin
Salt & pepper, to taste
Tips:
- You can use a food processor for this recipe. I have included instructions in the recipe for it.
- The falafel mixture should be a thick paste, so if the mixture is too sticky add more flour as needed.
Cooking Steps
Prep
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Rinse and drain 1-15 oz. can of chickpeas. Finely mince 2 cloves of garlic. Finely dice 1 medium onion.
Combine Ingredients
Combine chickpeas, minced garlic, onion, 2 tsp cumin, salt & pepper, and 2 Tbsp. flour.
Mash Chickpeas
Mash chickpeas using a fork until ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture can easily be made into a ball. If using a food processor: Combine the ingredients in a food processor and process until the mixture is smooth, occasionally scraping down the sides of the bowl.
Shape and Bake
Form the falafel into 8 evenly sized flat rounds. On a lined baking sheet, place the falafel about 2 in. apart. Bake for 20 min, flipping halfway through, until golden brown. Serve!
